Search engines typically index pages in the following order:

   1. Page Title meta tag
   2. Page Description meta tag
   3. Page Keywords meta tag
   4. Page content

To take advantage of the meta tags follow these simple tips:

   1. Use a unique, accurate title and description for each page. Don’t use the same title or description for all your pages.
   2. Don’t overload your tags with a lot of extra words that don’t appear in your content.
   3. Google also compares the content of the page with the words in your tags. It looks for the same words and ranks the keywords higher if it finds more occurrences of the same words in the page content. For example if you have “landscape architect” in your title and as a keyword, use this phrase several times in your page content also. But don’t overload the page with the keywords, which Google considers “Keyword Stuffing” Google favors a keyword density of 1-3%.    4. Use descriptive “Alt” tags on images.

1. Title tag is located on head tags, therefore insert descriptive keyword or key phrase that describe on your pages, this way your chances to gain targeted traffic will be a lot bigger.

2. When you make an anchor text to link your page from different page or different blogs, make sure the anchor text is the same with text of your title tag. This is very useful if you have many pages or linked by many others blogs.

3. Another recommended way is the text you put within the title tag must also be put within the body of the page. It will be weird if text of title page are not found in the body of the page.

4. Make sure you Do not utilize the same title tag on every page on your website. This way, your pages will be likely not get indexed or crawled because of SE Robots will think that all of the pages are the same.

5. Title tags for text links. Insert the title tag within the HTML of your text link to add weight to the link and the page where the link resides. This is like the alt tag for images.

6. Use the alt tag to gives description of our images. Alt tag will assist robots that crawl your images to find specific pages in your site and consequently help SE user who use text only while Googling.

7. Build one-way link at the proper amount to help your page/homepage position in Search Engine.

I totally disagree. While many easy to rank long tail search queries can be high converters, don't be afraid of competitive terms. I think those who only go after easy terms for clients especially, are doing them a disservice by being afraid to compete, or that they can't compete.

If you know how SEO works, you can rank for competitive terms, sometimes it just takes a lot of links.

Include related words and phrases in page titles, text, and header meta tags. This will
expand the range of keywords that the web page might be listed under.
